Report: Women are becoming more engaged with video games than men
/in Uncategorized /by Stuart MacintoshA recent survey conducted by the Pew Research Center has found that women are becoming more engaged with video games than men.
Researching technology device ownership in 2015, the survey evaluated the popularity of console ownership in the USA, amidst the popularity of a variety of technological gadgets in the process.
Results shown in the survey found that 40% of American adults had reported owning a console, but more interestingly 42% of American women own a game console in comparison to 37% of men.
The survey also highlights the continued rise of tablet and smartphone ownership in comparison to handheld video consoles (such as the PS Vita and Nintendo 3DS), with 45% owning a tablet, 68% owning a smartphone and only 14% owning a handheld console.
The survey comes as a great success for clever marketing employed by Game Developers, increasing gender diversity in their games, and subsequently increasing interest among female gamers. Particularly in the console market, where developers release more social multiplayer games for social interaction during game play.
